Appreciated
for his musical insight, technical dexterity and versatility,
Germano Scurti is widely regarded as one of the most
pre-eminent virtuosos of the bayan, the chromatic
button accordion developed in Russia in the early
20th century.
A
tireless ambassador of his instrument, he has contributed
to expand the bayan repertoire and its presence
in the classical music world. Particularly devoted
to the contemporary repertoire, he has enjoyed a
close collaboration with many composers including
Jonathan Harvey, Marc Monnet, Ivan Fedele, Azio
Corghi, Alessandro Solbiati, Alessandro Sbordoni,
Javier Torres Maldonado, Luca Mosca, Alessandro
Sbordoni, Mauro Cardi, Ada Gentile, Nicola Sani,
Mauro Porro, Raoul De Smet, and Bruno Strobl, premiering
several works, most of which were composed especially
for him.
In
February 2010 he premiered "Sirius", a
concerto for bayan and orchestra written for him
by Alessandro Sbordoni and commissioned by the RAI
National Symphony Orchestra.
Mr
Scurti is in constant demand as a soloist with orchestra,
recitalist and chamber musician. Recent appearances

He
recorded for Stradivarius, Rivoalto and Aliamusica
records and published a book of technical exercises
for bayan.
Germano
Scurti received a degree in Sociology and a Ph.D
in Communication Science from Rome University 'La
Sapienza'. Professor of Sociology of the Arts at
the Academy of Fine Arts in L'Aquila, he has published
several articles and books on sociological subjects.
